That technology also has empowered a new generation to take a more active role in sharing news. The explosion of the internet and new technology platforms have created a need for an endless stream of content. That is especially true during a crisis event. The key is you have to be ready before the crisis strikes. All it takes is to follow three simple steps: Message for your primary threats now; Utilize social channels to tell your story; Leverage your own citizen journalists.

Ask the PR M&A Expert: Rick Gould Discusses the Financial (and Personal) Reasons to Sell Your PR Firm
Bulldog Reporter - January 10, 2017
"A major impetus to sell is that firms lack depth and don’t own the capabilities that clients increasingly demand, particularly digital PR, online analytics and data management. Another reason to sell is that owners need a capital infusion; a buyer can come in and provide the funding necessary to either build or buy the services to the selling from needs to grow. They’ll get you the talent, they’ll get you the technology needed to compete. Another important consideration is that a new buyer will relieve PR firms of the back office."

By Michael O’Keeffe

The key for 2017 and beyond, is to show the insights that led to that idea via research and to illustrate through data the impact this idea may have. In summary, PR and Communications Professionals will have to adapt to changing techniques and remain fluid and agile.
