By Ken Scott - Digital PR Executive, Hallam Internet Limited
Bulldog Reporter - January 24, 2017
Great PR campaigns start with great content and, believe it or not, there’s a lot of content at your fingertips. Repurposing content has nothing to do with copying and pasting or plagiarising. Instead, it’s about breathing fresh life into content that’s out of date, or hasn’t worked in the past, simply because it needed a slightly different approach. Repurposing has advantages for you and your clients. Updated content could give your clients an SEO boost, while you have the potential to produce more content in less time.

Big pharma isn't planning on "going gentle into that good night." The drug industry's largest trade group and lobbying arm, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), launched an expansive new campaign Monday aimed at getting the public - and, critically, lawmakers - to sympathize with the increasingly maligned industry, which has been slammed left and right for its habit of exorbitant drug price hikes.

By Michelle Messenger Garrett
Ragan - January 23, 2017
So, what can we do to help smooth things over with reporters, editors and producers? Maybe it would help if they knew more about our true motives. 1. We don't mean to be pests. 2. We want to be of help to you—really. 3. We respect what you do. 4. We trust you. 5. Sometimes our jobs stink, too.

Ragan - January 24, 2017
"Cool Infographics" author Randy Krum offers these fast tips to help you add visuals and infographics to your content mix: 1. Visualize your data. 2. Follow the "five second rule." Audiences want infographics to be quick and easy to read. In fact, they will only spend about five to ten seconds to read an infographic, so focus your content to only tell one story really well within that five seconds.
Common Writing Mistakes That Will Slow Down Your PR Career
By Jerry Ascierto
PR News - January 24, 2017
Strong writing skills can propel a PR pro’s career, but the opposite is also true—weak writing skills can undermine your message and professional growth. While every writer has their own blind spots, there are several common pitfalls to keep in mind when crafting any communication. Good writing is economical, but one of the most common mistakes is using too many words. Remember, you want to get to the point quickly; the less work a reader has to do, the better. Nothing can sabotage a press release like bad grammar and punctuation. Some of the most common mistakes involve dashes, semicolons and commonly confused words.

Spin Sucks - January 24, 2017
No one on my team is a spin doctor or a liar. But Washington and Hollywood have always made us look bad. We have movies such as Wag the Dog and TV shows such as Sex & the City. Those make us look bad and it’s always been a real fight to gain real credibility. And now we have alternative facts. There are several things we can each commit to doing: Check the facts on anything before we share. Educate our friends when they post alternative facts or fake news. Have a spine and say no. Use critical thinking skills. Pay for our news. This is something you’ll hear more about from me and others this year. If we pay for our news, the quality of reporting can only go up.
