PR Re-Starts: When And How To Pivot From A Bad PR Plan
By Cheryl Conner
Forbes - February 9, 2017
If people aren’t paying attention to your business, it’s time to re-think your PR , even if you’ve been previously successful for a very long time. But it’s never too late. This week I had a return visit with Bhupinder Nayyar, cofounder and COO of publishing site Bameslog for existing and aspiring writers and entrepreneurs. Together we identified three founders who’ve recently re-tooled their PR: The owner of a national senior care franchise, a successful real-estate investment expert and an executive leadership coach. Here’s what led each of them to their moments of truth, and what they’ve done to turn the process around.
11 logical fallacies to avoid
By Laura Hale Brockway
PR Daily - February 9, 2017
In a time of fake news, “alternative facts,” Newspeak and attacks on credible journalism, I’ve focused on teaching my kids how to recognize logical fallacies in what they see, hear and read. Logical fallacies are errors in reasoning that weaken arguments. Once you start looking for them, they’re shockingly obvious. These reasoning errors can weaken your arguments—and your credibility.
Executives Don’t Live the Brand the Way Customers Do and This is Why CX is Shorted
By Brian Solis
Brian Solis Blog - February 9, 2017
We are not our customers and as such, it’s difficult, if not impossible, to engage them in meaningful ways. Without empathy, we will continue to talk at them, usher them through outdated and inconvenient touch points, and serve them through means of which are no longer preferred. We are managers and enforcers of legacy. We lean on innovation to move us incrementally forward. But, this is a time for radical reinvention and invention. We’re competing for market share as much as we’re competing for relevance. That takes understanding. Then it takes vision, purpose, design and execution.

How To Use Design Thinking And Agility To Reach Product Development Breakthroughs
By Steven Widen, Partner and president at E-Cubed Media Synthesis
Forbes - February 9, 2017
Look at your problem from the inside out. At its crux, design thinking is about looking at a problem from the inside out, rather than the other way around. It is about thinking from your customers' perspectives. For instance, let's say your company is a travel portal, and conversion rates on your mobile app are pretty low. You get your team together to discuss the probable causes, churn the data in front of you and come up with a list of possible solutions.

In less than two weeks in the saddle, the new American President had already violated a half-dozen of the cardinal principles of public relations.
