How brands can use the World Cup to promote without triggering outrage
By Dustin York
PR Daily - December 14, 2022
Whether it's allegations of corruption and bribery, human rights abuses, or the decision to host the event later in the year to avoid the region's extreme heat, the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has certainly been nothing if not controversial, and controversy is something that advertisers usually shy away from.

Good and Bad PR of 2022: The absolute best and worst PR of the year
By Andy Barr, Owner, 10 Yetis Digital
PRmoment (UK) - December 14, 2022
Dearest reader, thank you for joining me on the ride through Good and Bad PR over the last year. Who would have thought that Christmas would have arrived upon us so fast? Not to get too emotional, but I cannot thank you all enough for getting in touch to either give a tip, a bit of gossip or even a bit of hate (me bashing Camelot triggered the most emails coming in from lofty, bright-coloured-trouser-wearing, public-relations-industry types).

Survey says we really *don't* want our leaders speaking out on big topics
Arik Hanson - December 15, 2022
For the last few years one message has been loud-and-clear when it comes to executive leadership online: We want our leaders to speak up on key societal topics. The Edelman Trust Barometer, one of the long-time key reports in our industry, claimed this year that "when considering a job, 60% of respondents said they expected the CEO to speak publicly about controversial social and political issues that I care about." And we've all seen similar stats and figures just like that shared across different media outlets. However, a recent Morning Consult survey paints a bit different picture. And may start to give us insight into the story behind the statistics.
